The subject of CSR is increasingly important, especially for college educators, since the Commission on Higher Education mandated an order to include social responsibility and good governance in the curriculum of the schools. Hence the need of talking about Education and CSR.

CHED Memorandum No. 39 calls for a 3.0 unit CSR course to be taught to all students of business majors. But what really is CSR? What are the historical roots behind it, what are the current trends in its practice, and what is the future of CSR? More importantly, how is it relevant and applicable to us as educators, to our students and our educational community?

This training program will help demystify this concept that until recently was primarily known only in the corporate sector. By equipping teachers with the fundamentals of CSR 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, as well as an explanation on how Ethical Conduct, Good Governance and Purposeful Volunteerism tie in with CSR, we will be able to maximize the impact the course that students will be taking beginning this school year 2016 – 2017.
