Volunteer Development Program

“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

-Winston Churchill

The Joy of Volunteerism

The ideal ultimate desire in society is the achievement of the common good. Good initiatives in this world are most often accomplished because individuals pursue their dreams and aspirations. The people with these dreams are the ones who change society – the change agents for the common good.

Changemakers are people who contribute to the field of making a positive difference in society. More often than not, their desire is triggered by an experience with volunteerism. Volunteerism stories are innumerable. Around the world, individuals from all walks of life offer their time, talent and treasure to initiatives that help make our society better. From building houses for typhoon survivors, holding medical missions in far-flung villages, teaching underprivileged kids to be prepared for college or employment, painting classrooms, reforesting watersheds—the activities pursuing the common good are multiple and varied.

VMX -Volunteer Matching Exchange

The BCYF Volunteer Development Program (VDP) is run by the Volunteer Matching Exchange. The VDP is aimed at forming “Volunteers with a Purpose”.

Because “doing good is not good enough”, we want to move towards serving with a purpose. When we join volunteer, we must make sure that our efforts to do good are effective and sustainable. We must strive to bebe practitioners of CSR 2.0 – transformative social responsibility– that serves the common good.

But more importantly, as individuals, we must live a lifestyle of Citizenship, Sustainability and Social Responsibility (CSR 3.0).

BCYF’s VDP strives to provide avenues for individuals, especially the youth, to develop as volunteers with a purpose.
